Just Getting Started in DevSecOps

I'm currently pursuing a Diploma in Information Technology at Ganpat University, Mehsana, in my 5th semester on a Diploma + Degree IT pathway. I don't have a professional background yet — I'm at the stage of learning fundamentals and figuring out how the pieces fit together.

What drew me to DevSecOps is the idea of building things that are both automated and safe by design, rather than bolting security on afterward. Right now that means learning Python, getting comfortable on the Linux command line, and understanding Git properly — the basics I need before I can responsibly touch Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud infrastructure.

01 / Right Now Diploma coursework + self-study in Python, Linux, and Git & GitHub — building the foundation before moving into DevOps tooling.
02 / Long-Term Goal Working toward a DevOps/DevSecOps Engineer role, with Japan as a long-term relocation goal. Early days, but the direction is clear.

02. My Roadmap // 目標ロードマップ

Education first, then the DevSecOps toolchain, one layer at a time.

CURRENT PHASE
5TH SEMESTER · EST. 2026

Diploma in IT

Ganpat University, Mehsana. Currently in 5th semester, CGPA 7.77. Building the fundamentals — programming, databases, and networking basics.

NEXT STEP

B.Tech in IT (Degree Pathway)

Continuing on the Diploma + Degree pathway toward a B.Tech in Information Technology, going deeper into systems and software engineering.

DevSecOps Toolchain

Working through: Docker → CI/CD → AWS → Terraform → Kubernetes → DevSecOps. Currently focused on Python, Linux, and Git as the foundation before starting Docker.

DevSecOps Engineer / Japan

The long-term goal: a DevSecOps Engineer role, ideally in Japan. Still early in the journey, but it's the direction everything above is building toward.

04. Currently Building // 学習中

No shipped projects yet — I'm still building the fundamentals. Here's what's actually in progress, and what's coming next.

IN PROGRESS
// LANGUAGE FUNDAMENTALS

Learning Python

Working through core syntax, data structures, and small scripts. The goal is to be comfortable enough to write automation scripts before moving into Docker and CI/CD tooling.

// SYSTEM FUNDAMENTALS

Getting Comfortable on Linux

Daily practice with the command line — navigation, file permissions, processes, and basic shell scripting. Building the muscle memory every DevOps role assumes you already have.

Linux Bash
IN PROGRESS
// VERSION CONTROL

Learning Git & GitHub Properly

Moving past the basics of commit/push — learning branching, resolving conflicts, and proper workflows so version control becomes second nature before I touch a CI/CD pipeline.

Docker Basics

First real DevOps tool on the list. Once Python and Linux fundamentals feel solid, this is where the CI/CD → AWS → Terraform → Kubernetes path begins.

Docker

No repos here yet — but I'm pushing what I build as I go. Follow along on GitHub

Still early in my journey.

If you're open to mentoring a student, sharing resources, or pointing out what I should learn next — I'd genuinely appreciate it.
